All passengers are required to purchase tickets prior to boarding. There are no ticket sales on board.
Tickets can be purchased on the free East River Ferry mobile app which can be downloaded on both IOS and Android app stores. The app can be used to locate schedule, view advisories and purchase tickets with credit or debit payment.
Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) are located at all terminals and accept cash, credit, and debit payments.
Tickets may also be purchased via Guest Services Agents at the Pier 11 / Wall Street ticket office or wherever Guest Service Agents are present.
Weekday tickets ($4) are required Monday - Friday. Weekend tickets ($6) are required on Saturdays and Sundays and the following holiday Mondays: President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Independence Day (observed).
A bike ticket ($1) is required for all non-folding bikes.
There is no surcharge for strollers or other assistive devices.
There will be no service on the following days: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day.
There will be a modified schedule (with a weekday, $4 fare) on the following days: MLK Jr. Day, Good Friday, Day After Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve.
All passengers are required to disembark at the end of a scheduled run, at either the East 34th St. terminal in Midtown or the Pier 11/Wall St. terminal downtown. Holders of Monthly or All-Day Passes will not be required to purchase an additional ticket when re-boarding. All others will be required to present another ticket.
Single-Ride tickets purchased at the TVMs are valid until April 30th, 2017.
30 Day Unlimited Passes are valid for 30 consecutive days starting with the day of activation (including weekdays and weekends), and are available via the free East River Ferry mobile app only and cannot be purchased via TVM.
All sales are final. No refunds, replacements or exchanges.
Children ages five and under may travel free and do not require a ticket. A maximum of two children are allowed to travel free with each accompanying ticketed adult passenger. All other passengers (age six and up) require a regular adult ticket.
Passengers under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Due to US Coast Guard safety considerations and the specific number of children’s life preservers available on board each vessel, no more than 40 children may be on board a vessel at any one time. Captains and deckhands enforce these rules and may impose other restrictions at their discretion.
No personal checks accepted.
No rollerblades, skateboards, hoverboard or heelies allowed on boats.
Only service animals or small animal in pet carriers are allowed on board.
Bikes and strollers are not permitted on the upper deck.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Smartphone has been reported to experience battery failures and poses a safety hazard. Samsung, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard have issued advisories urging owners to power down these devices and stop charging or using them. Following these advisories, we would like to caution passengers to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and to request that they power off affected devices onboard vessels, on docks and in facilities.
Coast Guard requires all vessels backing out of landings to sound one long and three short horns to warn other vessels in the Harbor of their movement.
