GREENPOINT FERRY LANDING UPDATE (MAY 16, 2014)
We have received a number of inquiries from riders concerning the re-opening of the Greenpoint ferry landing so we thought we would share what we know at this point in time. The ferry landing is owned by a private developer who has the responsibility for making the necessary repairs to re-open the facility. The private owners and a team of engineers are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. We are advised that engineering and preparations such as fabrication of new piles, repair of the gangway and the like are occurring off-site and that the investigation is nearing completion. We are continuing to work with the property owner so that a solution that addresses the cause of the incident can be implemented and the ferry landing reopened as soon as possible.
The safety of our passengers remains our number one priority and we of course will not operate our vessels to this site until we are confident that it is safe to do so. We remind our customers that there is an interim free shuttle bus service to take Greenpoint passengers to the North Williamsburg ferry landing.
